Today, February 29, 2012 The Bank of Tanzania has announced their plans of taking the 500 Schillings banknote out of circulation and replacing it with a coin. The BOT sites that they have received many complains of how easily the new 500S banknotes are wearing out. The BOT stated that the average life span of a Tanzanian banknote is about 7 months before they begin to wear out. It was only 2011 when the Bank of Tanzania introduced the new 500S banknotes. What a shame, it's always tough losing a banknote.

According to an article written on News.am The Central Bank of Armenia will be releasing new 5,000 and 10,000 AMD banknotes sometime this year. The Central Bank will not be releasing any images of the new notes due to "security reasons" but it is said that the new banknotes will drastically be different from the ones currently in circulation.

The reason for these new banknotes is to keep counterfeiters away from duplicating banknotes. According to an article written on Kurdish-Global.net, The Central Bank of Iraq has decided to issue new banknotes towards the end of 2012 and take all older banknotes out of circulation in 2013. The new banknotes will have three zeroes eliminated from the denominations. 50, 100 and 200 Dinar banknotes will be introduced as well as 1 and 2 Dinar coins. Images are Requested.

The Central Bank of Oman has introduced new 5 & 10 Rial banknotes. These banknotes have upgraded security features and will be circulating next to the banknotes already in circulation. The CBO also introduced a 50 Rial note on Jan. 10, 2012. 

No, there is not new banknotes that feature QE II coming out, well not that we know of. But what is coming out is a new set of stamps from the Royal Mail that will feature images of QE II that were featured on past and present Bank of England banknotes and coins. These new stamps are to celebrate QE II's Diamond Jubilee. Interestingly enough the two images that were taken from coins QE II faces East, while on all the banknote images QE II faces West.
